I feel like I really dislike Pap. I hate the way he's treated Huck so far, and I think he will stay bitter and mean through the whole story. The sad truth is there are actually fathers out there who treat their children like that, and it makes me really have sympathy for kids who go through that. In my opinion Huck takes it really well, I mean he takes it better than normal people who were beaten would take it.
I agree. Most dads now days as teens just get a girl pregnant and want nothing to do with the girl ever again. For that child it is really hard to cope with not knowing your father. As many times as Pap says he will re-new his alcohol problem, he never does. Huck just keeps getting beat. Huck did the right thing when he faked his death. We know that huck is done with his dad beating him. So he pretended he was dead. I just hope Pap learns his lesson.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Huck shouldn't have to be treated that way and no child should ever have to endure any pain on that level. Sadly, over one thousand children about beaten and abused just like Huck every hour of the day and there's nothing we can do about it until the child is dead or left behind by their parent(s)
ReplyDelete@reklawanoira Pap is so the antagonist in this narrative, even if Huck doesn't really know it. I would just love for something to happen to him. Pap's definitely the worst father I've read about in any book. It's just like Jim says about how sooner or later bad luck gets you in the end. >:)
